Adoption
Key challenges of this project
as my first big project, these challenges were pretty challenging
Developing a Flexible Architecture
The system struggled to adapt to changing needs. We needed to build a flexible and scalable information architecture that could evolve with user requirements and align with business goals, ensuring long-term relevance and usability.
Simplifying Cluttered Interfaces
Our existing EMR system’s interface was cluttered and overwhelming, making it difficult for doctors to manage tasks efficiently.
Improving Prescription Management
The system currently lacks key prescription management features like refills and templates, causing inefficiencies for doctors.
The Approach
other than auditing the existing platform we followed the following approach :
01
Discovering the actual user problems
To design effective solutions, we focused on understanding the challenges doctors face and addressing their pain points. Once the requirements were defined, we conducted design collaboration sessions to explore various approaches and identify the most effective solutions.

Features that we were sure to introduce after the feedback and brainstorming sessions
In addition to addressing the core needs of doctors, we also brainstormed and conducted thorough research to discover additional features that could elevate the product and enhance the overall user experience.

02
Competitive analysis/benchmarking of products available in the market
Next, we conducted a competitive analysis to understand where our product stood in comparison to others. This helped us identify features we were missing and gain insights into how other complex systems handle input. By doing so, we discovered ways to streamline the input process and make it faster and more efficient for doctors.

03
Fine-Tuning Until We Achieve Perfection
Once the core features were developed, we focused on refining the product through continuous iteration. We tested each component and gathered feedback from doctors, making adjustments until every detail was aligned with their needs. This process of fine-tuning ensured that the final product was both functional and optimized for real-world use.
Mid fidelity v1
Timeline of Paper sketches to high fidelity wireframes
This and multiple other rough sketches were drawn and thrown to kickstart the ideation process
Next, we expanded the interactive area to fill the entire screen, enhancing visibility and ensuring scalability for the future.
Mid fidelity v2
High fidelity v1
High fidelity v2
Following High Fidelity v1, we finalized the basic layout and focused on refining the UI, ultimately arriving at this final version. Naturally, this led to the ongoing creation of components, along with the addition of UI animations and interactions.
Initially, we considered placing patient details in a separate column for quick access, but this approach wasted valuable space and detracted from the focus on the primary task.

Impact and takeaways
insights post project completion and feedback session
Practice level customization
Doctors can fine-tune the EMR down to specific fields, tailoring it to their unique workflows.
Stronger marketibility
A clean visual overhaul made the product more appealing and easier to showcase.
Time saved with templates
Repetitive details can now be filled in just a click, cutting down prescription time significantly.
Paper to digital shift
Storage and re-access of history encouraged doctors to transition from paper to digital.
